Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston is pleased to welcome Ashley Tufts to its Board of Directors.

Ashley Tufts is a passionate supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters because she has experienced firsthand the power of one-on-one mentorship throughout her own life and career. She understands the profound impact that dedicated mentors can have on a person’s trajectory, and she believes deeply that developing and fostering long-term relationships is critical to success.

Ashley currently serves as Assistant General Counsel, Mergers and Acquisitions at Waste Management, Inc. (WM). Before joining WM in 2022, Ashley served as Associate General Counsel at Talen Energy. Earlier in her career, she served as an Associate in the Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions/Private Equity practice at Vinson & Elkins, LLP and as Senior Counsel at Nalco Champion.

Ashley earned her J.D. magna cum laude, from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy from The Catholic University of America.

Ashley is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana but has lived in Houston for over fifteen years.  She is married to Andrew Stakelum and has five-year-old triplets, Blades, Poppy and Elle.  She has followed BBBS since moving to Houston and has actively served on this year’s Gala Host Committee as a community member.  She is thrilled with the opportunity to potentially serve on the Board and give back to such an incredible organization.
