Annual Back-to-School Fest serves 168 families and distributes 380 backpacks with support from community partners and volunteers.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Houston welcomed 168 families and 425 attendees to its annual Back-to-School Fest, helping Houston-area youth start the new school year prepared and ready to learn.
With the support of community partners and 53 volunteers, the event provided 380 backpacks filled with school supplies to students and connected families with resources for the year ahead.
BBBS Greater Houston thanks the organizations that donated supplies and resources to make the event possible: AmeriGas, Aramark, BKV Corporation, Bristow Group Inc., David Weekley Homes, Heavy Construction Systems Specialists (HCSS), Houston Business Journal and Orion Group Holdings, Inc.
Volunteers also played an important role in bringing the event to life, including teams from David Weekley Homes, Phillips 66, Houston Business Journal and the Alpha Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Back-to-School Fest is part of BBBS Greater Houston’s work to support young people beyond the match, connecting youth and families with mentorship, educational opportunities, career experiences and community resources that help them succeed.
