October 27, 2025- Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, the largest youth mentoring nonprofit agency in the United States, today announced that its CEO, Pierce Bush, will step down from the leadership role he has held for the past ten years. His last day as CEO will be November 30, 2025. Following that date, Pierce will continue to serve the agency in a part-time, advisory capacity as President Emeritus, ensuring a seamless transition and continued momentum for the thousands of children whom Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star empowers across Texas through its outcomes-driven mission.
Rob Bowlby, Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star Board Chair, praised Bush’s impact:
“Pierce Bush has been the definition of a transformative CEO for Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star. Just as our agency has transformed the lives of thousands of kids throughout Texas, Pierce has transformed the Lone Star Agency into the premier mentoring organization in the United States and one of the strongest and best operated nonprofit agencies–not only in the Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate network but also in the state of Texas.”
“During his ten-year tenure as CEO, Pierce has substantially increased the number of kids we serve, implemented a decentralized leadership model that pushes responsibility into the local markets, built a fortress balance sheet, constructed a brand-new building, and developed an organization where all our teammates can learn and grow in their careers,” Bowlby shared. “I have personally worked with Pierce for the past six years and have greatly valued both our partnership and our friendship. I am pleased that we will continue to work together in his new role as President Emeritus, and I look forward to watching him succeed in his next career venture.”
In an address to Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star Staff last week, Pierce Bush said:
“It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to lead this incredible youth-mentoring agency over the past ten years. As with anything meaningful in life, this journey has given back to me many times over through the people, purpose, and impact we’ve shared. I will always be grateful to the thousands of Texans who have stepped up as Bigs and mentors, generously sharing their time, energy, and talents to uplift and guide young people across our vast network of communities. I will forever be thankful to our generous funding partners who share their blessings and resources to make our positive and measurable outcomes a reality for our kids; and, equally important, I will always be grateful to our wonderful team of dedicated professionals who strive every day to ensure Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star remains the premier mentoring organization in the country, and to our devoted Board members who lead with care and conviction.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star’s executive board members have initiated the search process for a new CEO. During this period, the agency remains fully committed to serving the community and delivering on its growing mission.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star is a nonprofit organization that has existed for almost 100 years to help children succeed in life. It does this by matching children ages six and above with caring adults who serve as mentors, advocates, resources, and guides. Volunteers commit to meeting with their Littles for a minimum four hours per month. Its professional staff are there every step of the way to solve problems and support each match’s success. BBBS Lone Star has offices in the Texas communities of Houston, Dallas, Tarrant County, Abilene, Wichita County and Erath County and is the single largest BBBS affiliate in the country measured by both kids served and the annual operating budget to support this worthy mission.
