Virtual Cooking Class with Milk Street Online Cooking School

Big Brothers Big Sisters Bigs and Littles can take a cooking class virtually with the Milk Street Online Cooking School. Bigs and Littles can join together or separately for an hour-long live-streamed class via Zoom. We’d love to see what you and your Little are cooking up!

Whether Bigs and Littles cook together or separately, these classes are fun, informative, and empowering for anyone who wants more confidence in the kitchen. The classes are great for Littles ages 13+.


Saturday, 9/18/21, 10am-12pm: Code Ninjas Hackathon

This is a Match event for Bigs and Littles in partnership with Code Ninjas Memorial City, 12645 Memorial Drive, Houston TX 77024. Each Match will hack their way through the White Belt Code Ninjas program in an intense battle to reach coding enlightenment! The winning team will receive a Create Unlimited Membership with Code Ninjas Memorial City. Three additional memberships will be given away. Each Create Membership has a value of $2500 and allows for Littles to continue their training to become a Code Ninja. Click here to register: Code Ninjas Hackathon

 

Friday, 9/24/21, 6:30pm - 8:00pm: Girls In STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

As part of our commitment to supporting Girls in STEM, we are excited to invite you to a Zoom event, hosted by Code Ninjas. Emily Bayuk is an author, as well as the founder of The STEM Diaries, a platform which creates learning experiences to empower girls to succeed in STEM (thestemdiaries.com). She is also a recent electrical engineering graduate from Bucknell University and a cybersecurity analyst at Accenture to help businesses defend against cyber threats. Saturday, 10/2/21, 3pm-8:30pm: Sports Careers Presentation and Tickets to the Rice Owls Football Game

This is a Match event for Bigs and Littles in partnership with Rice University Athletics and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Join the Rice Athletics department in a tour of the Rice University and athletic facilities, have a Q/A with a representative from the Athletic Department to learn about careers in sports, and then stay for the Rice vs. Southern Miss football game at Rice Stadium.


This event is limited to 15 Matches (30 people total). BBBS will purchase tickets to the game for the Match and includes a meal voucher at the football game.
