Abilene, TX – January 5, 2025
Today, Big Brothers Big Sisters West Central Texas launched a search for its next Market President. Talan Cobb, who led the youth-serving nonprofit since 2021 will remain involved with the BBBS mission. Her last day with the agency was December 31, 2025.
“Talan has been an incredible leader and an even better friend to this organization,” said Travis Ruiz, Board Chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters Abilene. “Her passion for our mission and her care for the children and families we serve have left a lasting mark on our community.
We are so thankful for the heart and dedication she brought to every day of her work.”
“As we begin the search for our next Market President, we do so with deep gratitude for the strong foundation Talan has built and excitement for the future of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Abilene,” Ruiz said.
Talan Cobb served as Market President since August 2021, following the tragic death of former leader Mark Rogers. During her years of service, Cobb strengthened the team, advanced the mission, and positioned the agency for continued success. Under her leadership, Big Brothers Big Sisters West Central Texas achieved positive outcomes, expanded its reach, and impacted the lives of thousands of children across the region. In December, she decided to take a step back to focus on her family but will continue to volunteer and advocate for the Big Brothers Big Sisters mission.
Jennifer Scott, BBBS Lone Star Interim-CEO, added, “Talan leaves a legacy of excellence in team culture and community engagement.”
During the transition, Mallory Wilcox, Vice President of Development, will serve as Interim- Market President. Wilcox previously worked closely with three Market Presidents and played a key role in driving organizational growth through fund development, community engagement, board leadership, and staff development.
“Mallory will celebrate 10 years with the agency in April 2026 and brings extensive knowledge and experience to the role. She is well-equipped to lead the team and to continue making a positive impact on the community.” Jennifer Scott said.
