Position Summary:
The Volunteer Engagement Manager serves as a consistent representative for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) within the Greater Houston community, focusing on developing, managing, and maintaining relationships with organizations rich in potential mentors. The primary responsibilities include engaging and recruiting volunteer mentors, guiding individuals from initial interest to application, and presenting BBBS’s mission effectively to inspire action. The ideal candidate must be an accomplished public speaker and possess strong motivational skills to encourage community members to volunteer.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Activities:
In partnership with the Director of Recruitment, develop, manage, and sustain relationships with both individuals and organizations that have a strong mentor presence to meet recruitment targets for volunteer mentors.
Create and implement strategies to ensure volunteer recruitment activities are timely and support the achievement of new annual match goals.
While volunteer mentor recruitment is the primary focus, this role requires flexibility to support youth recruitment activities through cross-training and as-needed assistance during periods of high demand or temporary staffing shortages. This support does not involve primary responsibility for youth recruitment strategies or results.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience preferred in sales, public relations, marketing, client management, or recruitment.
Two to three years of related experience is preferred.
Must be an effective presenter, with the ability to share BBBS’s mission and motivate individuals to volunteer.
Must be goal-driven, organized, and customer service oriented.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to organizational changes, participate in cross-training, and provide limited support across recruitment functions, including youth recruitment when necessary.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple clients simultaneously.
