Position Summary:
The Mentor Recruitment Specialist is crucial for identifying, engaging, and recruiting volunteer mentors from the community to support our mission. This role plays a crucial role in managing the initial contact with prospective volunteers, whether they come from web inquiries or recruitment table opportunities at community events. This individual ensures that each new inquiry is handled with the highest level of professionalism, adhering to established standards of practice. The goal is to guide potential volunteers through a seamless transition from initial inquiry to the completion of their application process, fostering a welcoming and efficient experience.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Activities:
Engage and Influence:
Proactively engage with prospective volunteers, presenting a compelling case for participation from the initial interaction through to the completion of their application.
Data Management:
Promptly and accurately initiate the volunteer recruitment process for potential volunteers. This task must be completed within set deadlines and adhere to the standards set forth by BBBSA and the agency.
Collaborative Recruitment:
Collaborate with the Director of Recruitment or other Development team members as necessary in volunteer recruitment efforts, including providing support during recruitment events and information sessions.
Community Outreach:
Represent the organization at community or corporate partner volunteer fairs, hosting recruitment tables to engage with potential volunteers, answer questions, and provide information about volunteer opportunities.

The BBBS Greater Dallas team has a strategic, inter-departmental organizational mindset that focuses on driving outcomes and achieving operational goals for the children we serve, such as:
• BBBS uses an open-book management system to ensure all team goals are met
• All team members are expected to help meet volunteer recruitment, signature event, and other program goals as needed
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communication, or a related discipline.
- Mindfulness to detail with high level of organization and ability to schedule time well.
- Must have customer service training and experience.
- Experience with high volume of phone work and data entry preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish fluency skills helpful.
- Adaptive, sincere, and vibrant interpersonal/social skills with excellent public speaking and written communication skills
- Effectively manage and support volunteers
- Facilitation, negotiation and closing skills.
- Reliable transportation, flexibility and availability to accommodate weekday early/evening work hours and occasional weekend and overnight hours, as well as regular travel to varying venues within the Lone Star network
- Willingness and capability to learn other software as needed including proprietary Sales Force database software used to track BBBS development and program activities.
